Sponsored Studio at the Kansas City Art Institute provides unique educational opportunities for our students, where we work with local businesses and do creative projects. Whether that's looking at some of their creative communications or presenting new approaches to how they do their work. So this could be producing a mural for a business or it could be working with a local theatre company to create backdrops for a set, for a play that they may be producing. So it gives the students an opportunity to work on real projects that are actually out in the community.
Micros is a student run agency that partners with the sponsor studio program here at Kansas City Art Institute. This is an opportunity for students to wear many hats within this agency, working with real world clients solving their visual and marketing needs. They can be an art director. They can be a project manager. They can be an illustrator. They can be an animator. They can be motion graphics person.
Students have to present and talk about their own work with the client. So it's not only making work that you like, but it's making the work that the client needs to fulfill their needs. We work with Children's Mercy Hospital. We're currently working with Kansas City young audiences and we're creating a giant two story exterior wall mural for their organization right now. And we've worked with the American jazz museum. Honestly, our clients, more times than not, are just blown away by what what they're doing and what they're getting from the students.
